First responders at Cattistock to launch Careline
6/10/2009
July 4th will see the launch of a new initiative by Cattistock First Responders in conjunction with Magna Careline.
Julian English, Chairman of Cattistock First Responders explains: “Since launch we have raised quite a bit of money which we originally envisaged would be used to buy a 4 x 4 vehicle for exclusive use as a First Responder vehicle. It became clear however, that most of our volunteers preferred to use their own vehicle while on duty.
“We wanted to do something which had direct relevance to our service and would be of benefit to local residents; we have decided to purchase outright up to five of Magna Careline’s Lifeline units over the next 12 month period and offer them to individuals who reside within our catchment area – Cattistock, Chilfrome, Sandhills, Chalmington,Charminster,Lower Wraxall and Frome St Quintin and any farms or individual properties within the area.”.
Cattistock First Responders are inviting individuals to refer themselves or members of their family who they consider to be vulnerable, for one of the Lifeline units. Julian adds, “We would welcome recommendations from friends and next door neighbours who might be concerned about the well being of their neighbours. Cattistock First Responders will pay for the initial purchase of the Lifeline unit; there is then a small monthly charge for the service which will be the responsibility of the individual.
