What are the requirements to install a lifeline alarm unit?

Do you have a…?

  • Modern telephone socket, situated centrally within your home
  • Mains 13amp electrical socket – ideally within 10 feet of the telephone and on the same wall as the telephone  socket
  • Minimum of two emergency contacts who live at separate addresses, not more than 20 minutes away from you. Both contacts need to have a key to your home (‘keyholders’) or one contact be a keyholder plus a keysafe »

If you answered yes to the above then you can have Magna Careline’s lifeline unit installed in your home.

If you think you would like the service, please contact us to arrange a convenient time with you for a free no obligation demonstration.

If you purchase our services online we will contact you to arrange a suitable time to install equipment within 5 working days of the purchase.

You (or the person using the service if not you) will need to be at home during our demonstration and installation so you understand how the service works and can test the system whilst a member of our team is with you.

To make sure our equipment works fully in your home, we will ask you the following questions:

  • The number of telephones in use within the property
  • If you have an internet connection, and, if so, the type (e.g. broadband)
  • Any additional equipment link to your telephone system, such as a fax machine or answer phone.

How does the lifeline alarm work?

The lifeline alarm unit is activated by pressing the red button on your pendant or the red button on the base unit.  Once pressed this calls our 24 hour telecare monitoring centre within a matter of seconds.

Our 24 hour telecare monitoring centre will respond via the speech link on the base unit which sits next to your telephone.  You will be able to speak directly to one of our trained operators to ask for assistance. If you are unable to speak or if you tell the operator there is a problem, the operator will call your emergency contacts, unless the emergency services are required immediately.  If it is an emergency the operator will still contact your emergency contacts keyholders to let them know that the emergency services have been contacted.  The operator will stay on the line until you are in safe hands and no further action is required.
